My journey into safari guiding began over forty years ago in my childhood, growing up near Kenya’s iconic landscapes. I spent countless days tracking animals and absorbing the rhythms of the bush. That early passion for wildlife and storytelling eventually led me to work as a driver and guide for some of the most respected safari operators in Kenya. After years of honing my craft and dreaming of a more intimate, conservation-focused way of sharing my homeland, I founded Kalama Safaris nine years ago with a clear mission: to offer responsible, deeply personal safaris that showcase the raw beauty and soul-stirring wildlife of East Africa.
What started as a dream quickly grew into a boutique safari company dedicated to small-group experiences (maximum 18 guests) that prioritize conservation, authentic cultural connections, and unforgettable wildlife encounters. Under my leadership, Kalama Safaris has become known for its personalized itineraries—whether it’s interacting safely and up-close with African wildlife, witnessing the drama of the Great Migration, or capturing golden-hour portraits of big cats.
Photography has always been one of my greatest passions. I love guiding guests into the perfect position at the perfect moment—helping them capture stunning images with their cameras or even their phones that they will treasure for a lifetime.
Today, I still personally guide select departures, bringing together decades of field knowledge with professional photography expertise. My goal is simple: to help you not only see Africa but truly experience it and take a piece of it home with you.
When I’m not in the bush, I’m at home in Nairobi with my wife Evalyne and our two sons, Tristan and Tyler. Most days you’ll find me tending our family farm near Tsavo National Park—the same land where I grew up. That deep, lifelong connection to the soil, the wildlife, and the local communities is what I bring to every safari we create.
