Elwana Lewa Safari Camp

This was the first stop for our return to Kenya and it didn’t disappoint. We were greeted by the lovely George at the airstrip and our safari began! Lewa is wonderful, having previously visited Borana, the sightings here were more abundant. Rhino absolutely everywhere, you momentarily forget they are endangered. Lions that had been chased up a tree by a herd of buffalo, majestic elephants, playful jackal pups, a male cheetah and two black mambas mating near the swamp, never in any danger though! The surrounding scenery with views across to Mt Kenya are stunning.

The camp itself was very great, the room lovely, we seemed to have a visitor in the form of a Dik Dik during the day and a porcupine at night, fabulous. The food was also delicious at all times. We had a beautiful bush breakfast, probably the most stunning views we’ve ever had for one across to Samburu.

The staff were all wonderful, Charl, Redempta, the chef’s and the fabulous George. Whose knowledge and laugh kept us entertained for our whole stay. So much so when we saw him whilst we were flying via Meru to the Mara we jumped off the plane quickly to say Jambo!

Asante sana to all the staff for a short but sweet visit which we loved so much.
