Gran Melia Arusha, Tanzania

We have been staying at GM Arusha for almost three weeks now. We are really sad to check out today. We feel at home here and we are in love with not just the beautiful hotel, its green and sustainable practices and policies, but mostly its lovely and loving staff!! Clearly the manager(s) here has done a great job in maintaining the highest service and quality. We have stayed at many other fine hotels but this is the first hotel at which we see the manager walking around working hard all day making sure guests receive the best possible service.

The hotel has a beautiful garden and its own coffee and tea plantation. They have free range chickens producing organic eggs. There are rooftop gardens on most buildings providing both aesthetic and environmental purposes. It’s so lovely to walk around the premises.

The hotel also faces Mt Meru. It’s been such a delight to see the changing faces of Mt Meru daily.

Finally its kind helpful and professional staff. We have not met any staff member whom we do not like. ALL of them go above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and welcome. They know our names. They know our preferences. They ask about our family members when they don’t see them. After three weeks we feel like these staff members are our family. Mind you most of these staff members do not receive tips for their services but they are genuinely caring and helpful, and, yes, happy to see guests.

We will miss this hotel and the lovely staff and we will be back!
