Animals

Lake Nakuru – thousands, sometimes millions of flamingos nesting along the shores, a sanctuary to protect Rothschild’s giraffes, 25 eastern black rhinoceros, and 70 southern white rhinos.

Masai Mara Game Reserve – exceptional populations of lions, leopards, cheetahs and elephants, and the annual migration of wildebeest, zebra, Thomson’s gazelle and other antelope; “Big Five” (lion, leopard, elephant, cape buffalo, and rhinoceros), hippopotami, crocodiles, hyenas, cheetahs, jackals, and bat-eared foxes; more than 470 species of birds.

Ol Pejeta – over 300 bird species, the “Big Five” (lion, Cape buffalo, African elephant, leopard and rhinoceros), other rare animals found here include the endangered African wild dog, oryx, Jackson’s hartebeest, Grevy’s zebra, serval, cheetah, and bat-eared fox, over 110 critically endangered black rhinos, the last two remaining female Northern white rhinos.

Activities

  • Drive to Samburu to see animals not seen anywhere else in Kenya such as Grevy’s zebras.
  • Experience bird watching year-round with more than 1000 bird species in both Kenya.
  • Enjoy a waterhole full of wildlife just outside your tented camp at Sweet Waters.
  • See the last two Northern white rhinos in the world.
  • Visit Sweet Waters Chimpanzee Sanctuary (optional)
  • Spend two nights in Lake Nakuru National Park where you may see Rothchild giraffes (rarely seen in the wild), lake birds (including flamingos), black and white rhinos
